Tauranga

semi-overcast 12 °C

We spent this week in Tauranga, Brooke's home town. It is in the Bay of Plenty and has a stunning coastline stretching as far as the eye can see. We walked up Mt Maunganui and even had a ride in Brooke's dads helicopter! The north island looks like Jurassic park from the sky with the mountains covered in thick bush and ferns. It was great to catch up with John, Dave, Bella and Lilly. The girls are as gorgeous as ever. Visiting Brooke's grandparents and aunties and catching up with cousins filled the rest of the week. We went to Opotiki for a night where Brooke's mum and dad grew up. His grandparents were so lovely we overdosed on tea and cake. Brooke is trying to teach me to drive the manual rental car but has little patience for my lack of skill and understanding...haha one day i'll get there. Our next blog will hopefully be before we fly to Chile :)
